The base trim is the $30,565 LX, which comes with cloth upholstery, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 17-inch wheels, and LED lights. Model Lineupįive trims make up the Sorento lineup. Higher up the food chain buyers can opt for a surround-view camera system.
All models but the base trim further include blind-spot monitors and parking sensors. Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, active lane control, and adaptive cruise control. The turbo-4 is good for 22/29/25 mpg or 21/28/24 mpg for front- or all-wheel drive, respectively. Following it is the base inline-4 at 24/29/26 mpg with front-wheel drive or 23/25/24 mpg with all-wheel drive. That leaves the regular hybrid as the thriftiest option available it returns 39 mpg city, 35 highway, 37 combined. The plug-in hybrid will be the most efficient-but it hasn’t yet been tested by the EPA. In between slots a turbocharged version of the 2.5-liter engine making 281 horsepower and a 1.6-liter hybrid that produces 227 horsepower with the help of a small electric motor. These range from a base 191-horsepower 2.5-liter inline-4 to an as-yet unreleased plug-in hybrid. The old Sorento offered two powertrains both have been retired in favor of four new engine choices. Besides the styling and revised interior, there’s more technology, new engines, and an improved ride.
